The First Graduate School of Religious Studies in Taiwan
The Department of Religious Studies at Fu Jen Catholic University is the first educational institution to offer higher education in religious studies in Taiwan. Its establishment marked the beginning of the recognition of the science of religious studies by the government and in higher education.
After its beginning as a graduate school, with the unrelenting effort of its teaching staff in curriculum planning and teaching innovation, the department started the bachelor’s program (1992), special (on-the-job) master’s program (2002), PhD program (2003) and continuous education bachelor’s program (2010). These programs aim in teaching and transmitting the reach and diverse religious cultures of this land with a well-established educational structure, and showing them through systematic scientific research.
