The First Graduate School of Religious Studies in Taiwan

The Department of Religious Studies at Fu Jen Catholic University is the first educational institution to offer higher education in religious studies in Taiwan. Its establishment marked the beginning of the recognition of the science of religious studies by the government and in higher education.

Comprehensive Educational Structure and Diversified Programs

We offer four different programs: bachelor, master, special master (on-the-job), and PhD, all with different program planning and development goals.

Rich and Colorful Pedagogical Methods and Activities

Besides introductory and advanced level courses in the science of religious studies, courses in comparative studies of religion and interreligious dialogue, students are also offered courses related to different religious traditions, so that they will be equipped with specific background knowledge of different religious traditions while being trained from the perspective of religious studies in order to become academically competent researchers in the field. Our students also learn to dialogue with popular culture through special courses in, for example, funeral director’s license, religious cultural and creative industry, religion and contemporary culture (films, animations & literature) as well as many guest lectures and seminars.
