演講將先概述中國佛教與基督教接觸的歷史背景，直至明末天主教耶穌會士及其他傳教士的到來。接著分析這場宗教互動的幾個重要文件片段，特別是利瑪竇的《天主實義》(The True Meaning of the Lord of Heaven) 以及佛教反基督教的著作《闢邪集》(Collected Refutations of Heresies)。
這些片段揭示了兩個傳統之間最具爭議的教義問題，如：上帝的存在、人與動物的關係（包括素食問題）、對死後世界的不同看法等。通過探討這些辯論中的論點和反駁，我們可以考慮一項關於當代更廣的問題：「是否以及如何能夠向不分享相同核心信念的人有說服力地闡述自己的觀點」。
Talking Past Each Other? A Look at Buddho-Christian Interactions in Pre-Modern China
In the first part of the talk, Prof. Zamorski will provide a historical overview of Buddhist-Christian contacts in China up to the late Ming period, focusing on the arrival of Jesuits and other Catholic missionaries. In the second part, he will examine several excerpts from documents that reflect this encounter, particularly Matteo Ricci’s Tianzhu shiyi (The True Meaning of the Lord of Heaven) and the Buddhist anti-Christian treatise Pixie ji (Collected Refutations of Heresies). These fragments will highlight the doctrinal issues that became the most contentious “sticking points” between the two traditions—such as the existence of God, the relationship between humans and animals (including the question of vegetarianism), and differing views on the afterlife. By exploring the arguments raised and refuted in these debates, we can consider a broader issue that has much contemporary relevance: whether—and how—one can convincingly argue one’s viewpoint to someone who does not share the same core beliefs.
ZAMORSKI Jakub (孫亞柏) 教授，波蘭亞捷隆大學文明比較研究中心助理教授 (PhD, assistant professor in the Centre for Comparative Studies of Civilisations at the Jagiellonian University.)。
Prof. Zamorski 同時通曉梵文、中文、日文等，目前研究興趣主要集中在東亞的思想史（尤其是中國和日本），特別是早期現代和現代的佛教思想。有多篇國際期刊論文（(e.g. Studies in Chinese Religions, Journal of Chinese Buddhist Studies, Wiener Zeitschrift für die Kunde Südasiens, etc.)），還撰寫了多部專書中的章節，並為Brill Encyclopedia of Buddhism and Routledge Research Encyclopedia of Chinese Studies等撰稿。目前是國家圖書館外籍學人來臺研究漢學獎助者。
