講者｜黃曉星教授（佩魯賈大學Prof.Ester Blanchi ）義大利佩魯賈大學哲學、社會、人文與教育科學學系 教授
Associate Professor, Department of Philosophy, Social Sciences and Education, University of Perugia, Italy.
Her studies focus on the religions of China, particularly on Buddhism, both in imperial and in modern and contemporary time; her research is centered on Sino-Tibetan Buddhism, Chinese Buddhist monasticism, the revival of Buddhist monastic discipline and, more recently, the spread of Theravāda Buddhist Model in modern Chinese Buddhism.
講題｜Ven. Miaojing 玅境 and the Recasting of Early Buddhist Meditation in the Modern Sinosphere: Doctrinal Concerns and Personal Motivations[玅境法師與早期佛教禪修在現代漢語文化圈中的重塑：教義關懷與個人動機]
簡介在現代中國，人們重新評價早期佛教經典和修行方法，認為這些教義比後期中國的詮釋更接近佛陀的原始教導。這一趨勢可以看作是追求佛教規範性和真實性的結果，也是佛教現代主義思想在中國傳播的一面向。此次演講將試圖揭示中國天台大師玅境法師（1930–2003）如何將這些早期的禪修方法融入其教學和實踐中。
In modern China, a reevaluation of early Buddhist scriptures and practices occurred in the belief that they were closer to the “original” teaching of the Buddha than later Chinese interpretations. These trends can be seen as the results of a quest for Buddhist normativity and authenticity, which is one aspect of the spread of Buddhist modernist ideas in China. The presentation will attempt to uncover the motivations that led a particular Chinese master to include these techniques in the meditation program for his followers. Miaojing 玅境 (1930–2003), aka Venerable Miu King, was a modern Tiantai 天台 master whose existence bridged different eras and continents and who increasingly incorporated early meditation techniques into his teaching and practice.
